ABOUT US

TENDER LOVING TOYS

We believe that it’s ever more important to bring our children back to a natural playing environment. Tender Leaf Toys has been created by craftsmen and designers using their experience, knowledge and creativity to bring you a beautiful wooden toy range that has brought the energy, emotion and excitement of playing with wooden toys back in to the family.

All our great products have been made with the development of children’s skills and the replenishment of rubberwood forests at its heart. Our manufacturing process - cutting, painting and drying of the wood, is all undertaken at our factory all at the same location.

We have been awarded the ICTI seal of approval and strive to maintain ethically high standards throughout our organisation. All of our toy products meet the European, American, Australian and New Zealand standard safety of toys according to EN71, ASTM and AS/NZS ISO.

We look to a time where all businesses regardless of size take social and environmental responsibility in all parts of the supply chain in order to protect our children’s future.

DESIGN-LED

We pride ourselves on our beautiful and contemporary designs. We pay particular attention to form and function as well as color and illustration, maintaining a warm and friendly style that makes our products so special. Each product is conceived and drawn up before being handcrafted into a 3-dimensional wooden sample by our very skilled sample team. Color and illustrations are then applied and the product is rigorously tested before it goes into production. The world’s attention is now firmly on plastic free products and there is a growing desire to eliminate needless waste, we realize that good design is now about thoughtful and mindful design not just in the way our products reflect the beauty of the natural world but the way they are presented and packaged and we think we are achieving this!

EARTH-FRIENDLY

We have been manufacturing wooden toys for over 30 years now. We care deeply about the planet and it’s dwindling resources and so only use Indonesian legal rubberwood which is a by-product of the rubber industry. Rubberwood is an economic and eco-friendly wood and the Indonesian Government is committed to replanting the Rubberwood plantations as part of their growing economy. The production of latex becomes uneconomical once the trees have reached the grand age of about 25 years and traditionally were felled and burned, but under an Indonesian legal wood incentive, we take that timber, and turn it into beautiful toys. For every tree that is cut down another is planted in its place so ensuring a continuous supply.

FAIR

We achieve extremely high levels of standard because it is a real community, employing 1600 workers from the localities, training them into highly skilled craftsmen. The timber arrives at one end of the site and the packaged goods leave at the other meaning that all parts of the toy’s creation is managed under one roof. We feel strongly about ethical trading and standards of customer care and good practices along the supply chain.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

If for every one of our wooden toys a real Rubber Wood tree has been felled, dried, cut, sanded, and painted, then each of our toys is unique, crafted from a living material and hand finished using traditional methods and processes that are not only kind to our environment but that provide skilled labor for a very large community.
